The first type of wedding bouquet is the traditional
circular cluster of flowers known nosegay or referred to as a Tussie
Mussie. The second is the cascade design.
In the cascade, the flowers descend below the main body of the
bouquet. These elegant bouquets can be the main accent of a dress
or ensemble.
Next, there is the increasingly popular hand-tied wedding bouquet.
These are made by placing the stems of flowers together and tying
them, often with ribbon. The common design is the contemporary bouquet.
These are artistic and unconventional and usually made with flowers
that have a distinctive shape, such as orchids. The shape of the
flowers can be the form of this type of bouquet.
Wedding bouquets are easily personalized. Flowers can come from
a florist, a friend's garden or your own backyard. The type of bouquet
and the flowers used should match the wedding theme. More casual
wedding bouquets are great for outdoor events, while elegant ornate
bouquets fit well with more luxurious ceremonies and receptions.
The most important element of the bouquet is, of course, the flowers.
The primary flower chosen for the wedding bouquet may have a special
meaning to the bride and groom, such as a native flower from where
they met or a flower the groom sent the bride before they became
engaged. It is a wise choice that the wedding bouquets of the bride
and bridesmaids be coordinated with the boutonnieres, chair and
aisle flowers, floral centerpieces at the reception, alter flowers
and flowers of the flower girls.
The predominant wedding flowers
can also have significance to the families involved, such as a native
flower from their home region or a type of flower that was grown
by a member of the family. It's all a matter of preference. The
most popular wedding bouquets include Calla Lily, Casablanca Lily,
Gardenia, Hydrangea, Lilac, Lily of the Valley, Orchids, Rose, stephanotis
and tulip.
The fragrance of the flowers (if there is a distinctive fragrance),
can also bring back memories or create new ones. Smell is the sense
most strongly associated with memory.
To get a better idea of the flowers a couple may want for their
wedding bouquet, it's great to do some online research to check
out photos and ideas. Florists, both online and off, are always
very helpful and knowledgeable resources. They have years of experience
and can help customize arrangements to form the bouquet of the couple's
dreams
Flowers come in all shapes, sizes, varieties and colors, but it
is often best and most cost-effective to choose flowers that will
be in season at the time of the wedding. This will allow for the
flowers to look the best possible and last the longest should guests
and members of the wedding party take them home
Silk bridal bouquets are also an easy choice, and refrigeration
is not necessary. By going silk, participants have keepsakes that
will last a lifetime.
No matter what, however, there is never a wrong choice when it
comes to wedding bouquets. The focus of the marriage ceremony will
be on the bride and groom and wedding bouquets merely serve to accentuate
the already happy occasion.
